COCKEREL HEADED MAN MOSAIC

£75.00

Cockerels were considered sacred by Apollo.

Since ancient times, these magnificent birds have been recognised as signs of virility, as they were often used in cockfighting and sacrifices.

Cockerels also symbolised masculine strength, protection, bravery and resurrection.

Roosters were often displayed in Roman houses, as they are today, and were considered to bring prosperity, fortune and good luck to your abode.

The original mosaic of the cock headed man, called Gallus, was discovered at Brading Roman Villa, Isle of Wight.

This reproduction by Roman Vision is a special Limited Edition of 1000, and is from the Roman Heritage Collection.
